Hi everyone,

I just wanted to start a planning thread for the Nov. Meeting

Per Sally J Greater IL RD:

We have been given workshop space from 10 am - 1 pm to hopefully conduct a workshop on the Service System proposals.  We will also have meeting space available for the entire weekend for MZF.

We had not discussed hosting a worshop at GIRCNA prior to the Detroit event. If this was discussed informally (or otrherwise)in Detroit, it would be helpful if someone could post the nuts and bolts of that discussion so we might have somewhere to start.

More wiil be revealed...

ILS, Bob M.

I am waiting on a reply from the convention chair for specific meeting room and workshop room locations and the specific times the meeting room is available for the forum meetings.  They are aware that we needed a room from Friday - Sunday for the MZF but, I just wanted to get more specific info.

I did NOT go to Detroit. I Will be at GRCNA.I wonder IF we can do a workshop on the service system? NAWS needed 3 days!!! (grin) Someone who did go could give a better Idea. WIs Chris didn’t know we were and did not think that we could do one on that topic in a convention timeframe. I kind of thought we were only having a MZF meeting?... We are supposed to plan our conference cycle at this meeting. You know that communication/decisions "between meeting" thing again. Should we put this on the web page as a topic??? sorry there I go again.

I am still waiting to hear back from the GIRCNA committee regarding further details on the workshop room and zone meeting room names.  The time for the workshop is 10-12 or we could have 9-12.  Personnally I feel that we could do a presentation of the materials from the WB workshops and open the "workshop" up for discussion etc. in a two hour time frame.  This will be one of hopefully several workshops and discussions regarding the Service System throughout this conf. cycle.  and the more we get the word out and encourage others to participate the better.

I do hope that the facilitators or whomever will come together soon with a plan of action for the workshop and if it is decided that we dont have a workshop and only have the zone meeting then I feel that we should let the convention committee know this by Saturday.  I believe they are putting speakers with topics this Sunday at their planning meeting so in case we decided not to have the workshop we need to give them time to find other speakers for the workshop time slots.

Maybe its just me but, I detect some resistence in moving forward with a workshop.

In loving service, Sally - RD Greater IL

Here is the tentative agenda for our November meeting at GIRCNA:

Friday November 19:

9 PM (after speaker meeting):        Informal gathering to discuss workshop

logistics

Saturday November 20:

8 AM – 9 AM: Recovery Meeting

9 AM – 10 AM: Workshop prep

10 AM – 12 N: Service System Project Information Session and Q & A

12 N – 1:30 PM: Lunch

1:30 PM – 5:30 PM:

  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Approval of minutes
  • Elections
  • Planning for current conference cycle
  • Special Business

Sunday 8:30 AM – 12 N: (If needed)

  • Additional optional business session to complete planning and special business.

You will notice regional and trusted servant reports are not included in the agenda (with the exception of approval of the minutes and a treasurer’s report) With the inclusion of a workshop along with our planning meeting we will have an incredibly tight schedule. My suggestion is for RDs to submit their regional reports to our secretary via e-mail prior to the meeting for inclusion in the minutes. Any region that has a specific issue that cannot wait until our next scheduled meeting, please contact Derrick or myself and we will place the issue under special business.

I have a couple of feelers out for a presenter, but nothing firm yet. I'm going to be in the woods for the next three days and will ask Derek to work on it this weekend. I'm also going to speak to the IN RD team who put together a two hour workshop a couple of weeks ago to see how it went and if they think their format would work. The hosting regiopn is committed to having this workshop. I will do everything I can to see that we put someting worthwhile together.

I have been told that there is a 2 hour workshop format that a couple of regions have used and feel that it is beneficial.  I have sent an email to Travis at WSO to inquire about the powerpoint.  Also, since we dont appear to be receiving much support regarding facilitators  for the workshop at GIRCNA perhaps we could reach out to Jim B. from Chicago and other WB members who may live near IL and see if they have the willingness to help us out.  I may have someone from MO that would possibly be interested in facilitating the workshop as well.   Let me know if you want me to make further contacts.

Cathy B (Chicagoland) has offered to facilitate the workshop. She has already done a couple --one in her home region and another for the SouthShore area in Northwest IN. I will get with her about the format and materials this week.

Both Charles & I plan to attend from the Ohio Region.

To Kathy (Chicagoland):  If there's anything I can do to help with the workshop, let me know.  We've conducted "re-caps" of the Detroit workshop at our RSC meeting in October, and then in Columbus & Cincinnati, OH last weekend.  Doing another in Dayton, OH this weekend.  Also, Chris C. sent me a condensed (draft) version of the workshop that NAWS has put together which I've attached for reference.

Look forward to seeing you all in Peoria.

I had the same eproblem the first day it was posted.  It was working as of Saturday. I won't be at GIRCNA, but Chris will be there for Wisconsin.  That's our RSC weekend, and one of us has to be there to present the Service System.  See you all next time.

Hugs,

Bill O.

Howdy folks,

Sorry I didn't post sooner. I know we have a full plate for our meeting and we have sugested  LOTS OF TIMES to only read important stuff from reports. We reached a consensus on a agenda to follow by the facilitators this can only be changed with another consensus.  I hate to be the policy police , we can change it as soon as we get together. OR Rds can present their reports to the sec and NOT read the whole thing??? Only put things "on the board" they want to talk about.

Of course John (Our policy policeman) is correct. I will offer RDs the opportunity to give abbreviated reports or give them to the secretary and give us bullet points to discuss if necessary as opposed to spending the time trying to reach consensus about an agenda change.

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction John. I appreciate it.
